York Warranty Registration: How and When to Register

Registering your York system within 90 days of installation unlocks lifetime compressor and lifetime heat exchanger coverage, plus the 10-year parts term. Miss that window and your coverage drops to the shorter base term. Here's exactly how to do it and what you need.

Deadline: 90 days from installation. Without registration, coverage reverts to the standard 10-year parts / shorter compressor terms. This is the most important step after your York system is installed.

How to register your York warranty

  1. Gather your information: the model and serial numbers for each component (on the data plate attached to each unit, and on your installation invoice), the installation date, and your installing dealer's details.
  2. Go to the official York registration page (linked below) and enter your details. Register each component if prompted.
  3. Save the confirmation. Keep the registration confirmation with your proof of purchase, you'll need both if you ever file a claim.

Why it matters

York is one of the only brands to include a year of labor as standard, and registered units unlock the lifetime compressor and heat exchanger limited warranties that make York's coverage industry-leading.

What you need to register

What if you already missed the registration window?

You still have coverage, just the shorter base term rather than the extended one, so don't write the warranty off. Three things worth doing anyway: register now regardless (some manufacturers accept late registrations or honor them at their discretion, and it costs nothing to try); check whether your state exempts you (California and Quebec, among others, prohibit registration requirements, so the full term applies automatically there no matter when you register); and confirm your installer didn't already register it, dealers often do, and an unregistered-looking system may already be covered. If a major component fails inside what would have been the registered term, it can still be worth asking the manufacturer, in writing, whether they'll honor the extended coverage; goodwill exceptions happen more than people expect.
